When I started to take over this blog from Chris Crum, one of my first posts was about NaBloPoMo back in ‘08. I was wondering if there are any new contenders for this year (’09) that are up to this?

If you are unfamiliar with NaBloPoMo (shortened for: National Blog Posting Month), it is a challenge for bloggers to post every day (including weekends) for a full month revolving around a topic/theme (as delegated by the official website).

Hello! I’m Chad, and will now be providing the frequent content for this blog. I would like to commend Chris on his contributions to this amazing blogging resource. I am honored to blog here in his stead, but be on the lookout for occasional posts from him on here in the future.

Guess what? Blogging has it’s own month! If you are familiar with National Novel Writing Month (commonly known as NaNoWriMo), blogging now has it’s turn! National Blog Posting Month (nicknamed NaBloPoMo) is a challenge to write one post a day for the rest of the month. Are you up to this challenge?

There are various prizes (now I have your attention?) to be awarded to bloggers that win this contest–mostly donated by others that are contributing to this project.

If any of you out there are participating in this challenge, make yourself known by leaving a comment. It will be interesting to see how many readers of this blog are contenders of NaBloPoMo.

Flock is a web browser, which is built on Mozilla Firefox, and it has just left beta. The draw to Flock as opposed to other browsers is its social integration, which includes that for MySpace, Facebook, Digg, YouTube, Flickr, Picasa, Photobucket and Twitter. Mike Sachoff talks a bit about it here.

what’s probably most intersting to bloggers though, is that Flock also includes a built-in blog editor, which is compatible with TypePad, Blogger, WordPress, Blogsome, LiveJournal, and Xanga (Flock recommends WordPress, TypePad or Blogger).

According to Flock:

Once configured, Flock remembers your username and password for one or more blog accounts. To confirm that your account information has been saved, open the accounts and services menu by clicking on the Display Accounts and Services button in the top bar. The button is represented by a picture of a key. If the account was added successfully, the account will appear in the My Accounts section of the Accounts and Services sidebar.

Your browser can also automatically publish blog posts to a notification service, such as Technorati. A notification service alerts people when you post a new blog.

I haven’t used Flock yet, but I have to admit it sounds kind of cool. They have more details about the blogging capabilities here.

First of all, thank you to everyone who decided to participate in my first group writing project. We had a total of 16 entries… I was hoping for a few more but I didn’t promote the project as well as I should have. Hopefully we can get more people involved next time.

I don’t know if you noticed but PureBlogging finally reached 1000 RSS subscribers! Yep, the little counter up there sits on 1040 subscribers as I type this post. To celebrate reaching this milestone I thought we should give something away.

What about money? Everybody likes money, right?

Here are the rules:

• Write a “How to” post. No matter what your niche is, you should be able to come up with a “how to” post… “How To Start A Blog” or “How To Find A Date” or “How To Paint Your Toenails.” You get the idea. Please only submit new posts… old posts will not be eligible for prizes.
• Please consider putting a link back to this post so that your readers know you’re participating. It is not required – but it would be appreciated to help spread the word.
• Use the contact form and send me the URL of the post, the title and your name.
• Once the final list of entries is published, you should browse through them and post a list of your favorites. You can pick a top 10, top 5, top 3… whatever you feel like. (Please don’t include your own entry on this list.)

The bloggies are now open! There are so many blog awards on the calendar these days, and I don’t really think winning most of the those awards actually do anything for your blog. However, saying this the one that actually is worth winning and does bring in a great deal of traffic and prestige is the Weblog Awards (also known as a the Bloggies).

The awards are currently open for nominations and will be until the 11th January. If you could head over and nominate Pure Blogging, it would be greatly appreciated!

I apologize for the lack of updates the last couple of days, we took a much needed vacation this weekend and I went completely unplugged. Just the ocean, lots of sand, a little sun, a few several adult beverages, and no distractions (no mobile phone, no laptop)… it was fantastic! I highly recommend it.

By the way, I’m still working my way through all the emails so don’t worry if you haven’t received a reply… I’ll get to it sometime today.

Now, about that little contest…

Judging by the number of entries that were received, I’m guessing that most of you were not aware that there was contest. Or maybe you knew there was a contest but you didn’t need that $200 prize.
