If you are a blogger who is on-the-go and do not have access or time for blogging from a PC, this post is for you. I have provided links to some handy applications that will help you blog from your iPhone or BlackBerry. These tools are great for blogging from anywhere, especially since these handheld devices are becoming so popular.
iPhone:
- BlogPress – This application comes with a rich-text WYSIWYG editor, multiple image support, YouTube integration, landscape editing mode, and WordPress/Blogger support.
- Kyte – Enables you to record video and post it directly to the web with ease, and also will allow you to do the same with images as well. This application is a great for a photo or video blogger!
- RSSPush – If you receive your blog posts by RSS, this is a great application to organize your feeds by keyword categorization.
BlackBerry:
- BBMetaBlog – Great WYSIWYG application that allows HTML support to help modify your blog post’s appearance.
- WordPress junkie? This application is for you, especially since it has comment and Gravatar support.
- ShoZu – Keep up to date with your social media and blogging platforms with this handy notification tool.
Please feel free to leave any feedback regarding any of these apps, or if you have an app that you would like to share the benefits your blogging, please feel free to share it and I will add it to the list. I do hope these apps help you blog on-the-go.

I don’t yet have an iPhone or a Blackberry, I may be getting one in the future though! My only question is… how easy is it to use the Apps? Is it alot harder to type a blog post etc while on the iPhone, or Blackberry?
Thank you,
Jean
I want to purchass a new phone for my dughter but dont know wether to go with iphone or blackberry, which is the easiest to use regarding the applications?
Thanks
Jen
Jenny I would say… it depends what you are looking for in the applications, and also keep in mind that blackberry = Verizon, and iPhone = AT&T
I hope that helps.
Till then,
Jean
Hi jenny,
your comment is really nice on this topic….
I would recommend Blackberry. Simpler to use and versatile for a beginner.
Here in South Africa the one cellular service provider is doing a great promo on Blackberries, with free IM between them. Teenagers are going absolutely crazy for them, and they generally say that the iPhone with its touchscreen is problematic. I know it is only kids opinions, but they are the great adopters of mobile technology, so their perceptions must count for something
These sound like great apps for the on-the-go blogger. It would be great to have the freedom to make your blog posts from anywhere with cellular coverage.
The freedom that the increasing versatility of mobile devices afford the average person means that increasingly one can work remotely, without even having a dedicated notebook & 3G combo. It is just getting better and better for us tech-freaks!
These sound like very nice applications, I will try then on my ipod and share with you what I think
I don’t yet have an iPhone or a Blackberry yet. Can I see somewhere how my site look like in iPhone or Blackberry?
You could try InterSquash (http://www.intersquash.com/). It will iPhoneizine your site.
Hope that helps.
I tried that and it helped. Thank you.
I still use my laptop for keeping in touch and use just an ordinary cell phone for telephony. If I were to buy one of these gadgets, I believe that it will eat into my busy schedule, as it does to many people that I see forever working them.
I actually use my Palm pilot for keeping intouch but love the look of the Iphone, just the price keeps me away
The iPhone is indeed an aspirational piece of equipment, but sadly too expensive to my taste
I refuse to sign cellphone contracts, and unless one does that, the iPhone costs more than a netbook or notebook! That is just ludicrous!
I know what you mean. It is now a classic image to see a business person plugging away on their blackberry or iphone. While they seem to be wasting a lot of time, they are actually being more productive by getting work done outside of the office.
I disagree with this. I find that most of it in public is for show!
Hahahahah! Nicole, you must surely be saying this in jest? Many people just sit and IM or browse the web, but many get lots of meaningful things done….like updating their FB of Twiter status…..LOL!
This is nice for people who loves small devices. However, on my part I rather bring my netbook…I think iphones though have a lesser chance of being broken from constant traveling.
I can vouch for blogPress for the i-phone. I use it all the time and I love the youtube integration. It makes all my blogging so easy I don’t even use my laptop for blogging anymore even when I’m at home because that would require getting off the couch.
Must be spending a great deal of time on it though! Right?
Blogging from a phone sounds sweet. That sure makes it easy to keep a blog up to date when you don’t actually have to sit down at the computer.
BlogPress for iPhone is really handy application. Although good for posting small posts though.
As well as Nicole i use my laptop. Altough i have in mind to get an iPhone i had another priorities. Maybe soon i will get it anf try the gadgets.
i look forward to your comments after you get hooked to it.
What happened Foto? I am still waiting!
Foto, it is mid December and I am still waiting!
I use a laptop myself. I really prefer a full sized keybord vs the miniscule littel buttons on the mobiles. Touchscreen does offer some advantages, but I’ll wait for the next generation that has had all the bugs ironed out before taking the plunge
i love my iPhone
i love my iphone
Ooops Double post?
Thats okay.. it happens to the best of us
Till then,
Jean
Well, i use my computer and sometimes mobile too but for checking mails only. But the list is good.
My thought is to be the first one to comment here
Yeah I agree that these apps look cool, but I think I prefer to blog on my laptop still as I am not on the go that much, in fact I work from home so never really, but if I were I would consider the iphone blogpress plugin.
Cheers
I like iphone apps and always use them in my blog
BlogPress for iPhone is very handy and i like it
Strange I don’t remember making this comment and I definitely don’t have anything to do with that site. I guess someone is trying to hijack my comments.
Welcome to the club. I hope that the webmaster will remedy this. This has happened to me too in some other sites.
Have you checked by just pointing the cursor at the address? It is a spammer.
Wow – I never knew I could actually blog directly from my iPhone…
You can rest assured that I’ll be checking it out ASAP…
Thanks
Jim
thx 4 the applications was a great help
Kyte is well worth a look. I struggled a bit at first but now love it.
I like the blog press because it comes with WYSIWYG editor which runs very smooth and quite useful for me.
I realize that some of you have commented on the ease of blogging from an i-phone, but I find I have an extremely short quota of patience. If it’s even the tiniest bit inconvenient, I wouldn’t bother. Can any other “super impatient” person out there tell me what their experience has been?
Because if there is no real hassle factor, I will go for it.
To give you an example, I don’t use Worpress’s upload functionality for images. It drives me insane. I ftp them myself to the correct wordpress directory on my server and then format the html quickly to do precisely what I want.
Thanks a million.
I’ll have to agree. iPhone seems to be the best way to go, but the new Nokia N900 looks like a worthy challenger to the iPhone.
Till then,
Jean
Hi, I have Blackberry and this is a good news for me that WordPress is compatible with it.
I use WordPress as my blogging platform so it will be beneficial for me to have a record of my blog from y phone.
And what about the recent news that iPhone have a poor batery? Is it true?
No, that isn’t quite true. I’ve been able to use it for days without recharging.
Till then,
Jean
This looks like a very interesting “itinerary , Lillie and I am very happy to be able to provide a destination
)) I look forward to reading all these entries hire.
Good post, I however disagree (an honest disagreement) with the bolding and attempt to highlight words. Your comments should not be so long that you need to highlight certain sections, short and sweet are best.
Thank you for your feedback on this blog post–I will definitely take this into consideration.
I tried a couple of iPhone apps for Bloggers, but most of them are not very user friendly. And most of the time, I’m not able to use them.
Cheers
Pete
I tried some of the apps for the iPhone, but most of them are not very usefull.
Cheers
Pete
Hi! I’m from the Philippines. Thank you very much for the interesting post! It’s very helpful and very informative.
how to fall asleep fast
Sometimes I feel as though I’m several steps behind times. Many of my colleagues have Blackberrys and IPhones but have resisted. This post may very well change all of that especially hearing about all the cool apps available to help your blogging pace going while on the go.
Thanks for sharing your insights.
Seems as though I’m behind times. Most of colleagues have either a Blackberry or an iphone. Actually I’ve been somewhat reluctant to dive into the data phone pool in that I’ve never had the need to own one.
This insightful post, however, may just change that. Especially since hearing about such cool blogging apps.
Thanks for sharing.
Great post, there are some great (and free) SEO plugin as well for the iphone. I have found both SEOStats and SiteRank pretty useful.
Good ol SEO plugins for the iphone. it is amazing on what this phone has.
That was so cool!!. i really love the idea. Blogging without a pc. Its very informative. I got to try this!
Nice post.. Ive got to try this one. Very informative. And nice alternative.
iPhone Apps is one the fastest growing applications today after facebook. Thats why market also focusing to develop iPhone Applications. I am too iPhone Developer
. Great sharing .Thanks
I’ve used BlobPress and highly recommend it!
I personally use blogpreess and I have tinkered with the other apps and I cannot recomend blogpress enough. It is a great application for a Southern Utah Realtor like me who is constantly on the go!
So far, WordPress for Blackberry has catch my heart. It is so far the best mobile blogging app for blackberry. The others still need a lot of improvement to treat mobile blogger well.
Have used BlogPress and really, it rocks! I now blog about 6 out of 10 times when i am on the move!
Cheers!
Thats an interesting idea, I thing I have to buy a new blackberry because my 8110 realy sucks.
I really liked your blog post . Good read. I am surely going to bookmark your blog right now.
Sounds like great apps! Well, im getting an iPhone for christmas so cant wait to try these out!
Cheers!
Iphone application are very fast and good working 100%
thanks for this
For starters those who uses ipod for blogging have to use BlobPress because of all the features such as rich-text WYSIWYG editor, multiple image support, YouTube integration, landscape editing mode, and WordPress/Blogger support.
I believe iPhone apps are better than BlackBerry apps, even for blogging.
Yes iphone apps are what makes the iphone so great. They have a huge number of programmers who improve their product for them.
i use BlogPress. this app is very handy and powerful. i strongly recomend it to every iPhone user!
Just recently I have purchased iPhone, so I could view stats & earning for affiliate networks I am working with. BlogPress surely is one of the best iPhone application and is gaining popularity rapidly.
My friend is using BlogSME application, which allows him to blog to various blogging platforms. I hope that helps
IPhone are very popular in theses days. Unfortunately I don’t have one yet but, soon I may get one. Can anybody give some advice before the purchase? How to make the Right Choice? Which Iphone should I get?
I haven’t used any of these apps yet because neither do I have an iPhone nor do I possess a Blackberry! I really like to keep it simple when it comes to mobile phones. However, this is a really interesting post and will catch the eyes of most smartphone users.
The Blackberry, like every cell type of device polls. But it does not mean what you describe. The polling that takes place is a “keep-alive” type of data packet. The purpose is to let the network know where the phone is located physically on the network at any given time.
It is more than two months since this post was posted and the comments are simply getting to be repetitive. Please do post a fresh post. Thank you.
Any serious blogger most likely has a serious cell phone like this. So it makes sense to combine the two to help bloggers manage their blog from their cell phone.
Happy new year Chad. Been some time since you posted a blog. I hope you will do so this year. All the best and cheers!
Downloaded the Fantasy Football app and Flickr to my iPhone. Both seem pretty solid. I like that the Flickr App loading screen shows a nice slideshow of your contacts recent photos! The fantasy football app looks great and works well for managing only your team. If you’re a league commisioner like I am there are no league management tools. Still a neat app though.
Hiya All! I just popped in to see if there was anything new happening this side, and am sad to see that there are no fresh posts. Anyways, all the best for all of you for 2010, and may it be the besty year ever! God bless.
I wonder just how many bloggers actually make posts via their cell phone. While it sounds like a good convenience for those who travel a lot, I think most people would still rather use their laptop or desktop computer.
Still no posts from you and January is coming to a close!
Almost four months since the last post and nothing happening. I hope that everything is alright!
I expect anything longer than a paragraph would be pretty hard to crank out on a phone.
Pinstack.com has many themes to download ota or using the desktop manager..they also have many apps and games all kinds of stuff for you blackberry…You might have to register but its free and is a very helpful site.
Have you given up on this blog? Been a loooooooong time since you posted anything?
Apple has already launched their IPad!
Considering it has been over 6 months since his last post, I think he has given up on this blog. Either that or he has been extremely busy lately.
I would guess so, Aluminum. Shame, would’ve been cool to discuss the iPad here.
Till then,
Jean
If he were to discuss IPad here, it would be a funny one!
I wonder if he is contemplating selling this site!
I wish my business was successful enough to justify getting an iphone or blackberry. As it is now, it would only be used for personal calls.
Hi i love my iphone all is very usable for me.
wow very necessary sharing all person is want to have a phone all is really very great sharing thanks for great sharing.
I love my blackberry and alot of the apps are great, but I really wanna get the Iphone.
Seriously, we know there is a lot of interest in Line2 on Android and we are in the development process. I’ll post more details as we get closer to beta launch.
I would not be able to live without BlogPress. it helps me keep my blogs updated wherever i am. Its also so easy to use and no faff.
If I ever got seriously into blogging I would definitely have to buy either an iphone or a blackberry. As it is now, I just can’t justify spending a lot on a phone and then getting stuck with highly monthly bills.
