RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feeds have become really popular in within blogging circles. Using an RSS reader, a user can read content from multiple websites/sources without having to visit the actual source.
From a blogging perspective, this means that a blogger can read all of their blogroll/blogging associates’ posts within one place without having to go to multiple sites to read them separately. This would be a big inconvenience if a blogger has a large blogroll, or a lot of blogs to read.
I have found that subscribing to my blogroll’s RSS feeds are a great way to keep updated with their happenings. If you have a medium-large amount of blogs that you want to be updated with on-the-go, I would highly recommend subscribing to their RSS feeds.
With this premise in mind, the more the blogosphere grows, everyone’s blogroll with grow with it. Will we one day get to a point where we do not actually post to a blog, but post to a place where it will automatically push the post through an RSS stream, and the post not really having a central location?
What are your thoughts on the future of RSS-related blogging?

RSS feeds are genious. It’s not even the “one place” thing that makes them great. I love how I’m always up-to-date with new posts. I don’t need to enter countless sites every morning and checking if by some accident someone posted a new post – I get a clean list, especialy in Opera, of new posts and I can choose what I want to see now and what I want to see later.
Interesting post. Im not too sure you get the full concept!
Im not really too sure what your talking about. RSS is a great way to keep track of several blogs in one location but you should be using an RSS reader to do so
No matter how fabulous the blog, I will not read it unless it publishes an RSS feed. Life’s just too busy for me to track down blogs — they have to come to me.
A blogging friend recently raised a similar issue of publishing summaries of posts in a blog feed as opposed to full posts. The issue was a bit controversial because everyone recognizes that bloggers need traffic to their actual blogs for most advertising to pay off. But the consensus from blog READERS was pretty firmly in favor of full posts. Personally, I’ve decided not to follow some truly wonderful blogs for the simple reason that they don’t publish full posts to my reader.
I think there will always be a central place that a blogger posts first then just like now a place that aggregates blogs. Blogs are read and chosen personally so there will be places that are a hub for blogs probably by category, there will always have to be the physical blog to give and reward ownership of the post.
Just my thoughts.
I kind of like reading everything on the original website. However I do have an RSS feed for work related sites, and it does prove useful. As for the future, who knows!
I think it’s more past of the blogging =) They become popular long time ago…
RSS feeds are really great. I love them. The best way to promote your rss feed is using rss feed directories.
Great post and great blog!
I don’t think anyone still visits sites by their URL, RSS is the way to go!
I’m one of the old school guys. Used to design in notepad for years and when I finally started using DreamWeaver I wish I made the switch earlier.
Maybe it’s about time I start using RSS feeds too?
I go back and forth on this — I think the best part of blogs is not just the content, but the total experience of seeing the design, the ads or affiliates they choose, etc. So the RSS is great to put it all in one place for easy reading, and subscriber tracking is great, but don’t you feel like you miss out on part of the experience?
I always visit that blog which have RSS (Real Simple Syndication)and this is the best part of any website or blog.
It’s great to have RSS feeds but just like my email. Even though I see that it says 0, I still log in sometimes.
I doubt it can replace blogging. That makes the interaction part pointless.
I like to get rss feeds sent to my email but I also do use an rss reader on some occasions. Sometimes I like to just go to the sites and look around.
I think the rss will be more modern, but the pages will exist forever like that!
That’s my opinion!
I like RSS feeds, but use also Comment sniper.
RSS are quite the trend now.Its convenient and easy to use! Good to have blogs that support RSS so that your readers are able to update themselves with your latest post without much hassle
I personally prefer direct email subscriptions via feedburner to be more useful.
With time being a limiting factor for most of the world, simplification and aggregation of tasks and information will only become more popular. RSS helps to address this giving people a quick way to read and filter through their information sources. We even added an RSS feed to our free flash games site so players can subscribe to see which games are recently added letting them quickly see and decide if they want to check out a game without even visiting our site.
Heard about RSS many a times, but never knew the usefulness. i’ll give it a try now for sure. Thanks buddy
that is how i feel.
I prefer aweber for my email subscription, but i also love RSS.
RSS is the olny way to go – there is no way i would be able to stay up to date on all the blogs i frequent if i didn’t subscribe to there rss. I would be lost without it.
I have read your blog.Interesting post you have. I am sure you get the full concept and description. Thanks for sharing.
RSS is one solution for blog sharing!
I think RSS feeds are a key aspect of blogs, especially with the thousands of new blogs popping up each day. Subscribing to blogs via RSS, and of course bookmarking sites, are the only ways to keep your head on straight.
RSS has been around for a while, but I have yet to try it. I think it will take along time for it to be user friendly enough for everyone to use it.
RSS is the future of the net. It doesn’t matter if you’re blogging tweeting or writing an article. Put it in an RSS and ping it.
RSS is not the future of blogging. It’s the now of blogging. If the site doesn’t have RSS feed available I usualy won’t even bookmark it. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.
RSS is indeed a great tool for reading blogs and other articles but I still think that it is nice to read from the original website if you have free time.
Nice post though. Thumbs Up!
I think RSS-related blogging is really necessary thing. People can read RSS on the phones. It is to see what you want to read, but you can’t read the comments, where you can get extra information
I also prefer to read the articles on the actual blog, but I do understand that I miss a lot of blogs sometimes… so a reader is necessary in situations, such as a long planetrip, where I have longer amounts of freetime and no real access to the internet
i use bloglines to collect all the feeds of the blogs i read. RSS is a great thing, especially because of the time factor.
