PureBlogging » Blog Archive » Twitter Users Can Now ‘Retweet’

The blogger’s sidekick site: Twitter now has a feature where you can “retweet” a tweet.

For those of you somewhat lost on what Twitter is, it is a social networking site where you state (in 140 characters or less) what you are doing. Making this service a “mini-blog” from a social networking aspect.

Retweeting is when a Twitter user forwards one of their follower’s tweets and publishes it on their feed. An example of this is below:

RT: @KevnBriggs It's definitely cold outside

This method also gives credit to the Twitter user that originally made the Tweet that you are broadcasting.

I just learned about this method a little while ago, and thought I would share it with you.

Happy Blogging! :)

Please do continue to share as much as possible about Twitter. As I’ve said before — I’m late to arrive to the phenomenon and am gathering as much advice and info as I can from trusted sources before I devote the time to the exercise.

Where is this retweet feature located on the Twitter site?

Hi Corvida.

Retweeting does not really have a ‘physical feature’ on the site, but it is just something you can do when typing a tweet.

Retweeting is a great way for a new user to break into twitter and gain followers.

Okay so let me see if i have this and correct me if i’m wrong. Lets say your username is Chad and mine is Jacques. You send me a tweet, i take that tweet and update it on my tweets saying Chad @ Jacques – Bla bla bla. Is that correct?

The way you would retweet is…

RT: @Chad blah blah blah (or whatever I had on my Twitter feed for that tweet)

I hope this helps?

Still not on Twitter yet, there’s a lot of hype about it. It was on Radio 1 this morning, they kept going on about it! Cant escape twitter, so I might have to join!

retweeting is a great way for things to go viral on twitter because if everyone retweets it goes to everyone’s own friends list.

So, what’s precisely the benefits of retweeting somebody’s tweet?
