Twitter and Blogs | PureBlogging

Twitter, the social networking site that allows users to describe what they are doing in less than 140 characters is becoming quite a companion for bloggers and the blogosphere.

You may even think that it even might be considered “a mini blog” since you are sharing the events in your life with fellow Twitter users that are following your account.

A trend that has been happening is that Twitter users have been using their account to spread the word about the happenings on their blog. You will often see users in the Recent Updates feed mentioning something like “New blog post!” followed by a link to their blog (mostly seen as a TinyURL redirect link). This method can also be an alternative to an RSS feed as people will “Tweet” the update of their blog right after it is posted.

If you have been blogging for quite a while, and have a vast amount of readers and blog partners, most likely that the majority of them will have an account there.

What are your thoughts on Twitter in relation to the blogosphere?

I don’t use Twitter, but I know people that do and I think this would be great for them because it lets them advertise as well as vent about their lives.

Well, i don’t use Twitter at all. Maybe i am wrong, but i think it is a waste of time, and as what i have read it seems that is getting more spammy.

I am not a twitterer! Nor do I intend becoming one in the foreseeable future. I think that it eats into productive time.

I’m a big fan of Twitter. It allows me to keep track of all the small ideas that pop into my head all day, and allows me to just compile them all at then end of the day.

The twitter announcements in “mini blogs” is a great way to make sure fellow users know you’ve been a bloggin’ and read the whole content. It’s like a press release for a new book or movie.

Thanks for the reminder! I’ve been adding a ton of new features to my blog, and installing the wordpress twitter plugins is now at the top of the list. Interconnectivity between platforms is just too important to miss out on nowadays.

I’ve used twitter on and off for the last couple of years, found the off part quite easy. I’m not a huge fan but will probably get on again just to make inserting a quick note into my blog at work easier (need a new plugin for that I guess).

I use it sparingly and it has its uses, but for me it is really hit and miss. How much time can you dedicate to following tweets? Also, I get irritated at people who post a biz-op every other tweet. It is like I am on their mailing list.

I actually like the fact that people I follow on Twitter send links not only to their new blog post but others that they find useful.
I do not deal with unwanted spam - If someone sends ads or links that I do not want to see I simply unfollow them.
I use TweetDeck so I have all the people I follow in groups, this makes it much easier to find who & what I need when looking for certain info. I also can do a search on keywords if I am looking for people or things in a certain niche.
I have really found some great people through Twitter.

I’ve never used Twitter before, but I’ve seen a lot of bloggers talking about it. I’ve also heard of Twitter flipping, where people will actually sell popular Twitter accounts.

actually creating blogs on twitter can be a good source in making money…. with advertisements and donations and others, you actually gain.. but for me, I use twitter to endorse my current blogs to my friends.. gaining friends is another thing..
