I agree. A well-crafted blog post on a topic unrelated to the blog's focus is usually a better read than a half-finished post that keeps on task.

Every blogger should post anything if it's interesting to him.
I prefer to read emotional post that is "not relevant" to blog, than a post that was written "only to post something once per week".
So, if it's interesting to you - post it. And you'll see is it interesting to someone else :)

I think we all tend to undervalue our own opinion. No matter what you're into blogging about, there's sure to be 999 other people in the world who share that same interest. So "the masses" are closer than you think.

The hard part is finding those people and marketing to them!

Don;t you find it's hard sometimes not to get wrapped up in content that you may like to read yourselves, but not appeal to the masses.

Eric has hit the nail on the head, you sometimes need to take a step..or two..back !

I know that most bloggers out there are trying to write content that they would likely read themselves so it is great to share with the world... but sometimes blogging out of habit brings out some mediocre posts... thats why I try not to work myself too hard :)

Great post. I think everyone needs to step back and ask themselves if they are really providing meaningful, compelling content to their audience. Sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in the motions of blogging that you end up losing sight of your blog's main purpose.
