Lots of great information here. If I may add a little. It's good always to think of new ways to entice your readers into coming back...and contributing too. Perhaps having a contest, include linkbaits, prompt readers response and the like.

There needs to be something else after that: more info, another website, an email newsletter, future offers/discounts, send this to a friend functionality... something.

If people only need to come to your site once and once only, and then never again, you are in the wrong business or you need extraordinary volumes of search traffic. Search traffic is always targeted traffic. Every niche has a ceiling--a total number of people who could possibly want what you got. And some niches have low ceilings.

The only other thing I could suggest is to look at other sites in your niche and do what they do only better in some outstanding way.

Long tail is a nice concept but how to you go about capturing visitors when your niche only requires them to look at your site once?
