They are always keyword-rich. If you want to rank, you have to make keyword-richt websites, that's a fact and they did so, I don't blame them.

To be fair, only some of the articles distributed through my service (The Phantom Writers) amount to keyword-rich crap articles.

I am constantly trying to reinforce the idea of "making articles for human readers instead of for the search engines..." Not everyone listens.

I have actually written about this numbers of times. Any article that is written that does not appeal to a human reader is an article that will fail to produce its true potential.

Some people send crap articles, and then they have the gall to blame the distribution service for crap results. Go figure.

I'd love to read your step-by-step tutorial... as long as you elaborated more on step twelve. ;)

Anyway, this post already helps a lot. The part about how you found writing ideas on pre-fab buildings is a useful example for all writers.

Kevin, this is great! Very enjoyable and right on the money. People don't realize how difficult it really is to write a good tutorial. If you're going to do it, do it well, and you will get links because it's a great resource for your readers.

Now that is an interesting idea. Hadn't thought of that. It certainly isn't necessary in order to get people to click on your ads. Giving real help means your site is a "real" site and not just an MFA site--which Google could ban.

Where did you learn how to write good article like this? You made me laugh in the opening, you made me laugh at the end. I love those idioms you used beside of course the great content. Definitely I will bookmark your site. Also, I'm happy that my MIL doesn't have a computer.

Um... I think Vic beat me to the punch but the knitting article is exactly how you make money online... when your girlfriend couldn't find the answer she was looking for did she happen to click an ad that looked promising?

This isn't poor writing it's niche writing and from the sounds of it they are quite good at it.

Unfortunately you don't make money off of happy and loyal readers - not the way you do with a steady stream of searchers. Sorry for your girlfriends grief though.

Good post and a good chuckle.

How do you know your g/f's mother doesn't read your blog? She may be a secret subscriber and now you've just spoiled her luvverly Christmas surprise. There was something similar happening with Facebook Beacon, which I blogged about on Sciencetext.com last week, apparently online shopping habits were being shared with your online friends some of whom may just have been the very people you were buying for. D'oh!
