Unique content is king! As a directory owner, one of my main concerns is duplicate content. I have found one company, Unique content wizard, that probably does the best job of all of the auto submission services.

Hi Vandelay,

Thanks for your feedback...it's not the blog who is hosting the carnival that is the issue...you're correct that they only post a link to my original article. The issue is with the blog carnival "company" itself.

The site who organizes all of the blog carnivals (http://blogcarnival.com) has a cache of articles that have been submitted to the various, individual carnivals. I've found that visitors have come to my site through the blogcarnival.com's cache because their cache of my post ranked higher than my original post in google.

So my concern has been whether or not this was a duplicate content issue.

JoLynn,
I have been using several blog carnivals over the last few months and I've had no problems with duplicate content issues. I've actually gotten a lot of my pages out of Google's supplemental index during that time.

The carnivals that I have used have either just included the title of the article and a link, or at the most they have included a brief excerpt. In any case the carnival links back to your original post, which tells the search engines that your post is the original.

My advice would be to test it yourself and see if you have any problems. Keep track of which carnivals and which posts you use. A few weeks later check to see if your post is indexed and try to see if it ranks ahead of the carnival.

I would think it is possible for a carnival page to rank higher than yours, but it would probably not be that common.
