PureBlogging » Blog Archive » Threadwatch Says Goodbye

Aaron Wall, the owner of Threadwatch, has announced that the blog/forum will be closing down on Friday. He cites a number of reasons for the decision: edgy news, gossip, decentralization, spam, and having other priorities in life.

Threadwatch has been a mainstay of the SEO/SEM industry for nearly three years and today’s news was quite a surprise to the community, many of whom are asking Aaron to reconsider. I too am sad to see it go because it was a good place to get the latest news and keep up with some of the more controversial topics of the industry.

Best of luck to Aaron and the other Threadwatch moderators.

I’m not a threadwatch reader and I haven’t really been on the site before so I don’t know exactly what its about, but why doesn’t the owner sell it instead of just ending it. This way his readers will still be happy (atleast the site will still be up) and he will make some money off of it.

I think Aaron is just disappointed with the direction the site has taken over the last couple of years and has other ventures that are much more profitable. People are offering to buy the site so who knows… it may have just been his way of creating buzz and generating interest for the eventual sale.

I’m also not a regular Threadwatch reader, but I think that your thought makes a lot of sense David… a way to raise the interest (and selling price!).
