Did you participate in the Group Writing Project at ProBlogger? If you didn’t, you should have.

The post that I submitted didn’t make it to the front page of Digg like some of the other submissions but I did see a little increase in traffic. I found a lot of great new blogs and I can’t tell you how many links I got from participating. In fact, the links are still coming in. It was great experience and I believe my blog benefited greatly from the exposure.

If you chose not to participate, don’t worry because there is another project going on that could prove to be just as beneficial for your blog. Plus, you could win your share of the $10,000 prize pool!

Brian Clark of Copyblogger has announced that he is having a group copywriting contest. The contest will be judged by Brian, Seth Godin, and Darren Rowse.

Get all the details from Brian’s post: Copywriting Contest: $10,000 in Prizes for Irresistible Offers.

David, I notice this contest requires writing an irresistible offer on a “landing page . . .” That doesn’t mean I have to change my blog’s home page, does it? I’m not clear on what a landing page is.

I agree with Phil. I’m not really sure what’s involved in making a landing page, either. I’ve just gotten my blog to look the way I want it to (for now –women are fickle, ya know), but I don’t like the idea of having to change it. But, 10k is a whole heck of a lot of money….

Hi Phil and Roberta,

Actually, you don’t have to change the way your site looks. A “landing page” is just a page that convinces someone to take action. The action could be anything… like buying a product, downloading an ebook, or even subscribing to your rss feed.

It’s really just a fancy name for a sales page.

So, as an example for your blog, you could create a new page that convinces people to subscribe to your feed. Sell your site’s feed to them. Give them the benefits of being a subscriber… explain how your site can make their life better.

I hope that helps.

I admit that this contest is more involved than most but I wanted to make sure I mentioned it here for those who might be interested and don’t visit Copyblogger regularly.

while were on the subject of themes (well were sort of on the subject of themes) i would like to say that your theme is awsome david. you should allow people to download it.

Thank you. I have thought about it and may do that in the future.

I’m curious, the advertising teaser is strictly text only? And that teaser goes into the message text area of the submission form? The url to the landing page goes in the web page text field of the submission form?

Yes that’s correct. Your advertiser teaser is basically a text and would be like creating an ad for AdWords. Good title and a short effective description.
