Every blogger would like to get more search engine traffic so here’s a list of WordPress plugins that can help make your blog more search engine friendly.
- Google Sitemap Generator - Generates a compliant XML sitemap for your WordPress blog that is supported by Google, YAHOO, Ask, and MSN Search.
- Permalink Redirect - Helps you avoid duplicate content penalties by making sure that pages and posts are always accessed via the permalink. If a requested URI is different from the permalink, a 301 permanent redirect will be issued.
- SEO Title Tag - This plugin makes it easy to optimize every title tag for every post, static page, or category page on your blog.
- Dup Prevent - Helps you avoid being penalized by Google for duplicate content by inserting NOINDEX meta tag in pages that might trigger Google’s duplicate content filters. (Update: It seems that WPSEO.com is having technical difficulties but you can also try All in One SEO Pack which offers the same functionality plus additional features.)
- WWW Redirect - This plugin allows users to have more control over the URI in which search engines and users access their blog. By doing so, you’re giving search engines and users a consistent link for accessing your content.
What are some of your favorite WordPress SEO plugins?
This post was written to take part in Darren’s latest Group Writing Project.

Oh good, you submitted a “top 5″ for the Problogger project!
I use 1 & 3 and I’m very interested in the other 3. I notice that my homepage (it’s not static yet) is indexed however a visitor can come there expecting to find text that isn’t there anymore since it’s dropped off already. I haven’t excluded my homepage in my robots.txt and maybe one of these plugins can help.
I’ll go through these tomorrow, thanks David! (and good luck in the drawing for the 1001.00!)
JoLynn
Great Plugins … I use 3 of the 5 you have listed and I’m gonna use all 5 of them now!
Darin
Yep, I use three of the five as well!
Love the Top 5 post. I use 3 out of the 5 and will be checking into the other two.
BTW, when I tried to click over from ProBlogger, I get a 404 Error. I have to go to your home page to get to this page.
Don
We use #1, #3 and #4 are contained in the all-in-one-seo-pack (which we use) and I will definitely check out the others.
Other ones we use are: Akismet (the BEST), subscribe to comments (useful) and the Google Blog Search Preview (cool, but not overly so).

Great list. I like #4, but unfortunately I’m probably unable to use it because my blog is on wordpress.com
I only use number 1, the other I find unnecessary add-ons to my WordPress platform.

Looks like you also get many link Back, David
When I join the group writing contest, I get many instant link back too and I love it
Thanks for the list, there were 2 that I haven’t tried yet. It’s really to bad that WP doesn’t improve the SEO aspect of the product. Maybe in the future huh….
Useful collection of plug-ins, thanks
SEO Title Tag <– I was looking for this for weeks! Thanks a lot for this tips, I at least will use two of these plugins.
thanx for the plug in list , but i would have liked it if wordpress would give bloggers more html options;)
A lot of my clients have wordpress blogs and these plugins are a must for getting better rankings on the search engines, thanks for the plugins.
If you like subdomains, Dax’ (Greg Boser’s Programmer) made the Subdomain plugin. I think he calls Subster Rejuvinator.
‘Share This’ and ‘Gregarious’ are also good for Social Bookmarking shortcuts. To suggest people to bookmark it, and possibly get more exposure leading to better link baiting.
I also like SEOLogs.com’s Wordpress Duplicate Content Plugin. Since Wordpress has duplicate content in 4 places: Homepage, Permalink, Archive and Category views, the plugin sets the Category and Archive to noindex.
Thanks for this list! Hope they will help my website get a top position in the SERPs
A great list if I ever saw one. Thanks!
Thanks for this helpful list. Actually WP works good for SEO w/o those plugins but I’ll try if it can be still improved ..
Whoa, amazing site! I’m subscribed now, and I look forward to new posts!
Nice list. I use 3 out of the 5 and will be checking into the other 2.
Thanks!
Awesome list! I was looking for this info for the last couple days
Cheers, and thank you!
Great list you have here. This is first time I heard about all the plugins that you mentioned.
Here are some plugins that I use on my wordpress blog:
1. WassUp - analyze your visitors traffic in real time
2. SimpleTags - Allows you to create a list of Technorati tags at the bottom of your post
3. Easy Tube - easliy place YouTube video in Wordpress
blog.
thanx for ur nice seo information where i can find more information about? would be glad if u can send me via email or say it here i will return after the weekend think monday or thur.
If you like some kinds of keyword stuffing things I thing BDP Referral Tracker, is a good one. This plugins show the referal tracker, from where and what keyword.
cek it here http://www.ozpolitics.info/blog/?p=32
I think there may be a better plugin to handle 301 redirects, as well as stripping or inserting the www before your domain. If yall are interested, it can be found at:

Good article, and I like the concepts. I have a question though, I am using All in One SEO pack, and am having trouble deciding if I show noindex the tag pages. The categories and archives pages are noindexed, but I was hoping to rank for some of the tags. What do you think? Do you think there would be duplicate content issues?
