I have decided to have a little contest and the winner gets a new 8GB Apple iPod nano. The idea for this contest comes from John Chow who is a master of creating buzz for his blog.
It works like this, you write a review of PureBlogging.com and post it to your blog. After you complete your review, send me an email with the URL to the post on your blog. After I have confirmed that your review meets the entry requirements, I’ll add you to the list. At the end of the contest, I’ll draw one name and that blogger will win the iPod nano.
- Reviews must link to this contest page and the PureBlogging.com homepage.
- To enter just send me an email with the URL to your review.
- Reviews can be positive, negative, or mixed… just be honest. You do not have to post a positive review to be eligible to win.
- All qualifying entries will be included in a future post with a link back to your blog. (Good for your site’s PR)
- The contest will run for one month or until we have at least 100 entrants.
- If we can’t realistically ship it to you, or if you prefer, we’ll give you the cash price equivalent via Paypal.
- Terms are all subject to change as necessary.
Just tell me what you like about the site, what you dislike about the site, and link to a few examples and that’s it. I’m not looking for anything special here but a little creativity is always appreciated.
Who wants to be first?
UPDATE 04/10/07: Based on emails and comments on this thread, I have decided that the winner will be determined by random draw and the contest will end on Monday April 30, 2007 whether I have 100 entries or not. Good luck everyone!

I am first and deserve this nano for following the rules
Wow, you’re quick! Thanks for the review.
I would love to win this prize!
Hi Mary! Submit a review and you will have as good a chance of winning as anybody else. If I get enough entries, I may give away more than one so get to working on that review…
I don’t have a blog site and to be honest, I really don’t know how these things work. I guess you could say I am a techno-tard! However, in response to your question about whether to choose a winnner by the random method versus the other, I would say you get to decide since you are the sponser of this contest! So back to my actual question. Can you please give me directions on how to write a review of this product. Don’t get me wrong, I know how to write, I just don’t know the technical aspects of setting up the page to post a review. Do I just do this again, only review the product?
techno-tard… that’s funny.
I’ll shoot you an email tomorrow with details on how to setup a blog and then you can join us here in the blogosphere.

I don’t like contests where after I make some work I don’t know what are my chances to get a prize, because everything is random.
Fair enough. I would like to get at least 100 participants so that would make your chances 1 in 100 in a random draw but I’m open to suggestions. What changes would you recommend to make the contest more fair.
Make it more like a competition, where your readers should make something, and at the end you can decide who’s the best.
I didn’t really want to pick a “winner” because I thought that would make people feel that their review had to be positive but I’m willing modify the contest if it will make it more interesting. Let’s see what everyone else thinks.
Alright everyone, what do you think… random draw or should I pick a winner? Just leave a comment here or send me an email with your choice.
I say random draw because it adds to the suspense. Maybe you can even do the random drawing live on your site which will make sure everyone comes back at the end of the contest to see who wins.
My review is also up.
I don’t really like the idea of random draw, but then again, it’s one of the safest ways to pick a winner because nobody could complain.
Good job. Thank you for the review!
You’re welcome!

Hi Bobs. The contest will end on April 30th… the last day of this month.
Hello David,
My review will be published tomorrow morning. Thanks for the chance and offering such a great prize contest.
Thank you!
I submitted a review and appreciate your contest!
I think a random draw is pretty fair and I prefer this method, since you asked.
Thanks!
Thanks for the review Rob! I really appreciate it.

[...] It has been over a week since I reviewed Johnny Fuery so I’m due to find another blog that might interest my readers. I’m always on the lookout for new blogs that show an ability to grow and a commitment to contribute to the blogosphere. While perusing Samanathon’s blog, I came across a reference to PureBlogging, who is running a contest to generate reviews of their site. David Culpepper is showing that commitment by offering an 8Gb Apple iPod nano for one lucky reviewer. [...]

Yep, the contest ended on Monday… you find out who won here.
Sorry if you missed out but check back because I plan to have some other contests in the very near future.

I’m afraid not… but you find out who did win here.
Darn, I missed this one. I usually don’t enter contests but I am in the market for a new mp3 player. This would have been a win-win-win contest for everyone. I like your site alot and will be providing a review/link anyway.
The contest was a lot of fun… I’ll definitely be doing something similar again.
I have to say that it was especially a lot of fun for me
